one month

  dear George, true to form, I am writing this post belatedly -- you turned six weeks old yesterday! the first month of your life has felt a bit like a fever dream, with all the noise and mayhem of large family life punctuated by quiet vigils in the wee hours, or afternoon naps when your sisters are at daycare. somehow, each groundhog day of diaper changes and feedings has rolled into the next until suddenly you have grown out of your newborn clothes and your little toes are stretching the limits of your newborn swaddle pods. you've also woken up out of the newborn fugue state where you would sleep anywhere, and you much prefer to take your naps in your own bed (or in the car -- praise the Lord, we have lucked out yet again with a baby who loves the car).  baby's first trip to Target you were very dubious during your first full bath ...and oh so cozy afterward! you usually drink six four-ounce bottles of pumped breast milk in a 24 hour period, straight from the fridge, which m...

Cruise with Greta {Part 2: Day at Sea & Nassau}

{read part 1 here } picking up the blogging torch to continue the recap from the Caribbean cruise Greta and I took in March! day three of our cruise was spent entirely at sea. after a late night due to the man overboard prank, we slept in luxuriously late and finally made our way to the breakfast buffet a little after 10 AM. eating on the deck of a cruise ship, overlooking the ocean, is one of my absolute favourite things (and I count myself very blessed to have been able to experience it on three cruises to date!).  somebody pinch me after breakfast we alternated between swimming in the outdoor pool and relaxing on the pool deck, then went back to the room to chill for a bit. Greta was content to hang out on our balcony while I went to go check out the adults-only pool. it was quite crowded and not exactly the serene vibe I was craving to read my book, so after fifteen minutes or so, I came back to the room and joined Greta on the balcony. we both ended up taking a mid-afternoon n...
