six months

dear Victoria,

somehow, half a year has flown by! your little arms are so plump that Greta says they look like egg rolls. you can sit unsupported for a while, although eventually you slowly fold over in an impressive display of hamstring flexibility. you roll over and over and over again. you've finally figured out how to lay your bowling ball head down gently when you roll instead of smacking it against the floor!

rolling around under the dining room table while Mommy works!

you absolutely love purees: carrots, sweet potatoes, turkey & apple, chicken & rice, and bananas are all favourites. you tolerate green beans. so far you have absolutely zero interest in your sippy cup of water. you hold your own bottle and generally drink 6 ounces four or five times a day. your new favourite activity is sitting up in the high chair to play with toys. and at daycare, you adore the little sit-me-up seat. you are such a big girl!

this month, you celebrated your first Christmas. Santa brought you a new stroller toy that keeps you occupied while you're dragged along to all of your older sisters' activities. and you had lots of snuggles with family and friends between Christmas celebrations and our New Year's Eve party.

my mom made your stocking to match the rest of the family. your sisters were all between three to six weeks old for their first Christmases so it was much easier to fit them in their stocking for this traditional picture. I had to squeeze you into yours!

slightly blurry, but by far the best out of many, many takes ;)

a sweet moment with your great-grandfather on Christmas Day. I didn't realize until after taking the picture that he had reached out to hold your hand! melt my heart.

party rockin with Auntie Amelia

you and Elizabeth play together much more now. you reach out to touch her and she giggles ("baby tickle me!") or to take her toy and she shouts "no, baby! mine!". if you cry, she runs over to pat your head and put your binky in your mouth, sometimes a bit forcefully. you love when she reads to you and shows you the pictures.

you weigh 15 lbs (27th percentile) and measure 25 1/2 inches long (37th percentile). we'll go back to see the orthopedic doctor next month to check your hips; there's a part of me that's preparing for the possibility you may need additional intervention, but no indication of any further issues so far!

happy six months, baby girl! you are truly our treasure!

  1. Such a beautiful baby and what a wonderful keepsake for her. I laughed at how you had to squeeze her into the stocking.

    1. For only being in the 27th percentile for weight, she's a roly poly little dumpling! ;)

  2. She is SO cute. Those cheeks!!!!! She is doing an excellent job being six months old. I almost died when I saw her in the stocking. How adorable. And the little girls' suspicious faces on Santa's lap!

    1. Haha yes -- they definitely were not quite sure what to make of Santa! And her cheeks are a perpetual delight. I kiss them literally thousands of times a day.
