seven months

dear elizabeth,

what a month this has been for you -- your first trip to the beach and first plane flight! at the end of June, we drove to Bethany Beach, MD, with Nana and Pappy. you did great on the car ride and slept well in the pack and play. and you surprised me by loving to float around in the outdoor pool -- the water felt fairly cool to me despite being heated, and you cry if your bathwater isn't hot enough for you. but you loved to kick your little leggies under the water and i'm sure you were happy just to be with your big sisters!

the day after we got back home, you and i flew out to Seattle for Auntie Kelli's baby shower. we can't wait to meet your new baby cousin when he arrives! you did great on the flights out (connecting through Chicago). on our last return flight (Denver to Pittsburgh), you were fussy for the last hour but finally calmed down after i gave you some Tylenol. and our actual visit with family was so wonderful. you got to meet Uncle John, Tia Genesis, Uncle James, and Auntie Krista, as well as your great-aunt Kim!

during the baby shower, you were a very good guest and enjoyed lots of snuggles from your aunties. towards the end, when the room got stuffy (completely my fault for closing the shutters in order to display the onesies we decorated!), your uncles came up with an ingenious plan for fanning you. as always, we owe a debt of thanks to Tia Genesis for the fabulous photos!!

you celebrated your first Fourth of July in New Baltimore. maybe next year you'll be chowing down on the traditional butter-and-vinegar-basted chicken!

Nana's girls

this month you still use your arms to support yourself while sitting. although you don't roll much, you can scoot yourself around in a circle when you're on your tummy. your favourite toys include your carrot teether, anything with a tag, and your crinkle books. this month you also started to "go to work in your factory" (the exersaucer) and you absolutely love it!

meeting Miss Kim's adorable new puppy, Sophie

you absolutely love dogs and giggle when they lick you!

you still don't like purees, but you will chow down on teething biscuits like there's no tomorrow. you typically drink four 8-ounce bottles per day, and you are well into 6-9 and 9 month clothes. we still haven't settled on an official nickname for you, but Cecilia calls you "Elizaboo", "the tiny Elizabeth" or "the chubby Elizabeth".

we love you so much, sweetheart!
